San Benign mountain, partly removed in the early 20th century for transport works, left a 70-meter cliff west of Genoa’s old center. Strong winds at the top make the area uncomfortable for residents.
The “Windcatcher” project turns this challenge into an opportunity, installing turbines on the retaining wall to harvest energy. A light steel structure supports the system and creates a public terrace above. Curved envelope elements accelerate airflow, boosting efficiency while offering a more pleasant outdoor space for the community.
